We are Kenny and Ginny. We call Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula home during the summer months. Together, we enjoy recreational boating on the Oconto River and the Bay of Green Bay and camping in the cooler northern states. When the boating season is over, we become snowbirds and head south for the winter with our luxury DRV Moble Suites 5th-wheel trailer that we call Château de Sallé.

I bought the Château de Sallé in July 2018 with my late wife Nancy after our Monaco Windsor motorhome, OWFISH, was totaled in an accident.

Cruise Date Set

This past March in St. Petersburg, FL, Barbie and I took a 2 hour sunset cruise aboard the The Schooner "Ellida". After that she was hooked. Barbie's life long dream was to take an ocean cruise so today we booked a Caribbean cruise aboard Windjammer Barefoot Cruises' S/V Yankee Clipper. We will fly to St. George's, Grenada for a week of sailing on a "tall ship" between Grenada and St. Vincent boarding on November 25th. Why a Windjammer cruise you ask? 1st I really didn't have an interest cruising on a large floating hotel and 2nd after watching the movies Pirates of the Caribbeans, Barbie wanted to sail through and visit the beautiful Caribbean Islands where the movies were filmed. History
Built in 1927, CRESSIDA, was one of the only armor plated private yachts in the world. Confiscated during World War II as a war prize, she was later acquired by the Vanderbilts and renamed PIONEER. Racing off Newport Beach, California, PIONEER was considered one of the fastest tall ships on the west coast. In 1965, she joined the Windjammer fleet and was christened YANKEE CLIPPER.

The Schooner "Ellida"

The Schooner "Ellida" is an 80 foot John Alden designed schooner built in 1922. The owners and crew sails her down from Newfane, New York to the Caribbeans just before winter sets in and then sails her back up to Lake Ontario just before hurricane season. The owners charters her for day cruises, sunset cruises, and excursion cruises.

Sailing on a classic schooner like Ellida is becoming a very rare opportunity for many people.

Becoming part of history by sailing and cruising in safety and comfort on board the beautiful and historic wooden schooner Ellida. This wonderful windjammer comfortably sleeps ten passengers plus crew in five guest staterooms.

In the Castine Classic Yacht Race, Schooner Ellida is tacking toward the finish line off Curtis Island, Camden.

Last evening Barbie and I went for a sunset cruise aboard the Ellida on Tampa Bay offshore from St. Petersburg. We both had a wonderful time.

While in Florida the Ellida berths at the Dolphin docks near the St. Petersburg Pier.

At last Capt. Ken takes the helm as we sail off into the sunset.

UPDATE: Captain Pete Peterson crewed on the Ellida for many years and has shared the link to his web site for more pictures of the Ellida at www.captainpete48.com/mainetonovascotia.htmwww.captainpete48.com/mainetonovascotia.htm
